Technical Skill (M) Sdn Bhd, RINA join Federation of Sabah Industries to boost Sabah’s industry

KOTA KINABALU: Italy’s RINA has been awarded a contract to carry out a preliminary front-end engineering design study for a major Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Malaysia by PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn Bhd (PCCSS).

RINA’s Sabah partner company – Technical Skill (M) Sdn Bhd (TSM) a wholly Sabahan-owned technical services company recently paid a courtesy visit to the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) to join the association to boost Sabah’s industrial growth and sustainable energy future and to contribute to Sabah’s infrastructure development.

The visit marked a significant step in aligning industrial development ambitions between local and global players, with shared goals of transforming Sabah into a leading industrial hub in East Asia and promoting sustainable energy initiatives across the region.

RINA is a globally recognised provider of engineering and consultancy services and its credentials in the energy and decarbonisation sector that were recognised by PETRONAS entrusting the firm to do the CCS project covering both the northern hub in Kerteh and the southern hub in Kuantan, and includes critical infrastructure such as onshore terminals, jetties, pipelines, and offshore platforms.

“We welcome collaborations that align with our vision to elevate Sabah as a dynamic, sustainable industrial powerhouse,” said Richard Lim. “TSM and RINA’s expertise presents exciting opportunities for our members and the state as a whole.”

Enrico Beccaceci: “RINA sees immense potential in Sabah as an emerging industrial and energy hub. We are committed to working closely with TSM and FSI to explore sustainable projects including carbon reduction, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and hydrogen development.”

Through this strategic alliance, TSM and RINA are offering a broad portfolio of expertise to FSI and its members, covering sectors such as Certification, Energy, Industry, Marine, Real Estate, Transport and Infrastructure.

This comprehensive offering is aimed at supporting Sabah’s transformation journey with integrated, future-forward solutions, in line with the government’s development plan, the Halatuju SMJ.

The visit underscored TSM and RINA’s shared commitment to supporting FSI members in navigating the energy transition, fostering innovation, and building a resilient industrial ecosystem in Sabah.
